Planning/Zoning, Permits, Processes & Fees

When do I need a permit?

Examples of work requiring a permit include, but are not limited to:

  • Any new construction (houses, garages, and permanent storage buildings)
  • Finishing a basement
  • Re-siding/re-shingling
  • Building decks
  • Replacing window/doors
  • Remodeling involving drywall, kitchen cabinets, or vanity replacement
  • Building a fence/landscaping

Permit applications are to be turned into City Hall.  The application will then be reviewed by the Building Inspector or City Council for approval.  If approved, work must be completed in one (1) year or the permit shall expire.
